We have launched the Greatest Need Campaign to ensure we can support as many of the requests we receive as possible, so we are not limited to supporting only those wards and services that receive direct donations but can support every great idea, every innovation and support the greatest needs of our patients and staff, wherever they may arise. We want to support projects with significant and long-lasting impact that truly make a different to patient care.

We understand that when people donate to us they often have a very personal motivation for doing so and therefore they advise us where they wish their donation to support. Most donations we receive come with wishes for their use and so we do our best to allocate the donation to the closest area of work or patient group. In honouring these wishes however it can also make it challenging for us to support patients and staff across the full breadth of NHS Borders’ services, particularly in areas that traditionally don’t receive donations.

We are therefore launching a campaign asking you to donate to the work of the charity, allowing us to identify and support projects, patients and staff where the need is greatest. This may be projects that support a specific service or patient group, or, where there are sufficient funds to do so, it could be something that has benefits across all of NHS Borders. We will share stories of how donations have been used and the impact they are having on patient care.
